São José do Rio Prêto, city in southeastern Brazil, in São Paulo State. It is the trade center of an agricultural area where cattle, coffee, rice, cotton, and vegetables are raised. Industries in the city include rice milling, coffee processing, and the manufacture of dairy and meat products and leather goods. The city has colleges of dentistry and pharmacy.
