Guarulhos, city in southeastern Brazil, in São Paulo State, on the Tietê River, an industrial suburb of São Paulo. Manufactures include steel, processed food, textiles, and ceramics. The Via Dutra connects the city with downtown São Paulo. Guarulhos was founded in 1560 as Nossa Senhora da Conceição dos Guarulhos.
