Campina Grande, city in northeastern Brazil, in Paraíba State, at the edge of the arid Borborema Plateau. It is an industrial processing and export center for a large cotton-growing region that also produces sugar, fruit, tobacco, textiles, and leather goods. Deposits of tantalite and columbite are nearby. Campina Grande is the site of a thermoelectric station.
