Ryde, town in New South Wales, Australia, in the Sydney metropolitan area on the Parramatta River. The third-oldest settlement in Australia, Ryde lies in a vegetable-growing area, and has shipyards, brickyards, and potteries. To the north, on the Lane Cove River, is Lane Cove National Park. At various times known as Kissing Point, Eastern Farms, and Field of Mars, the park was laid out by returning servicemen.
