Don Quixote 7208 Pacific Highway, Robina North - 07 55307123 $80 or more Steak and seafood restaurant offering special party menus for large groups. Open spacious dining area offering very little privacy. Small bar area.ˇ Cuisine: Steaks Review:Fawlty Towers Has More Class We booked for a group of twenty on a Friday night.
When we turned up, there were only four other couples in the restaurant, with one of them lodging a complaint with the management at the bar over her meal. Not a good sign, by any means.
The waitress, on bringing the first round of drinks, spilt a whole beer over one of our group, and then only offered a curt "sorry", and a napkin for the lady to clean herself up.
The next several hours exemplified the worst example of service I have ever seen, with numerous examples of poor service, or bad food, which included one steak returned to the kitchen because it smelled off. The chef admitted it was a problem, but claimed, "It is not off, it just smells funny."
Two grilled fish with lemon main courses arrived wrapped in pastry; then the waitress argued that was how they did their grilled fish. One of the group did not even receive his main course, as the chef forgot it. All at the table had to remember their seat number so the waitress could match up thei r meal, which she still managed to mess up.
Two people of the group had to rush to the hospital (not connected to the food suprisingly) before the entree, so their orders were cancelled. The waiter tried to make the rest of us pay over $50 for their m eals, claiming that the chef cooked them anyway. After pointing out quite angrily that was rubbish because one of our table was still unfed they agreed it was not needed to pay.
The waitress tried to put the red wine on ice, and provided carafes of water on the table with ice that melted in about 2 minutes...because she filled it up with hot water. For the first hour there was no music, just the mechanical sounds of the air conditioner, whereby we asked for some music. One of the staff had to get a CD out of their car for us to listen to, which turned out to be Jimmy Barnes. Glasses and cutlery still had marks and leftover food on them.
The food was patchy, with some people actually enjoying what they were served but others found it revolting. On the whole, nothing to say pleasant about this restaurant, whatsoeverr
