Grafton, city and port in northeastern New South Wales, Australia. Grafton is located 64 km (40 mi) from the mouth of the Clarence River and 480 km (300 mi) north of Sydney. The city is on the main railway between the cities of Sydney and Brisbane, and is an important highway junction. The streets of Grafton are lined with jacaranda trees, and each year the city holds a jacaranda festival while the trees are in bloom.
