Wisconsin Dells, city, Columbia, Adams, and Sauk counties, south central Wisconsin, on the Wisconsin River; incorporated 1925. The city is known chiefly for The Dells of the Wisconsin, spectacular rock formations along the river, which attract thousands of tourists each year. The community, settled in the mid-19th century, was known as Kilbourn until the present name was adopted in 1931. Population 2,521 (1980); 2,393 (1990); 2,418 (2000).
