Edmonds, city, Snohomish County, northwestern Washington, a suburb north of Seattle, on Puget Sound; incorporated 1890. The city is primarily residential, but some light industry is here. Located here are Puget Sound College of the Bible (1950) and a large pleasure-craft harbor. The community was founded in 1872 and is named (with a misspelling) for the American legislator George F. Edmunds. Population 27,679 (1980); 30,744 (1990); 39,515 (2000).
