Stowe, town, Lamoille County, north central Vermont, in the Green Mountains; incorporated 1896. It is one of New England's major ski resorts and also serves as a commercial center for the surrounding agricultural area. Mount Mansfield (1339 m/4393 ft), the highest point in the state, is nearby.
