Old Heidelberg German Restaurant 1016 Shelburne Road - 802.865.4423 $15.01 - $30 Old Heidleburg seems to be a little bubble of Germany in the middle of Burlington, VT! This restaurant strives to offer genuine German cuisine and atmosphere. The menu offers many German dishes and beers (they certainly are quite large!). The atmosphere is fun, somewhat upscale, and includes soft german tunes in the background. Cuisine: German Recommended Dishes:Wienerschnitzel, Jägerschnitzel, Deutsche Bratwurst, Mashed Potatoes (side), Franziskaner (beer) Review:In Burlington, the Germans are getting it right!

Review:Poor Service - Not worth the trip My party was rudely greeted on the stairs leading to the dining room. We Sat for over 20 minutes before anyone would wait on us. As a result, I had to ask(beg) for someone to wait on us to at least order a cocktail. The waiter did not offer any information regarding the menu, food etc and was not helpful at all. When I confronted the waiter about the lack of service, I was appalled at the pretentious attitude and lack of respect he offered to myself and my family. The waiter simply did not or want to provide good service and felt the need to always have an excuse, ignoring my wishes. What ever happened to the "Customer is always right?" Obviously, this establishment has at least 1 inadequate poor waiter on staff that needs desparately to take a class on customer service and what happens when you don't provide it. Review:Suggested by friends, we visited Five Spice and had a terrific time. Great food, casual atmosphere, attentive and knowledgable staff. I don't like hot food, so I chose milder dishes, but my friends were blown away by many dishes. I loved the Indonesian mock duck--though I'm not a vegetarian. I ate a wing--and it was HOT, but I liked it. Desserts--fabulous. Can't wait to go back!
Bove's Italian Restaurant 68 Pearl Street - 802.864.6651 $5.01 - $15 Boves is a Italian restaurant famous among locals (usually students) for good food at a low price. It is a tiny place, but they are currently in the process of building a new location. It has the atmosphere of a diner. Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Spaghetti with meatballs, Garlic spaghetti (couples had better BOTH order this for mutual defense) Review:Vampires beware! Come one, come all to this very affordable family-style pasta restaurant.
Nectars Restaurant 188 Main St - 802.658.4771 $5.01 - $15 Nectar's serves good ol' american-type food. You can get your food three ways. Not all are available at all times. \n\n1) Be served by a waitress.\n2) Fast food style, tell the short order cook what you want, wait for it, pay, then go sit down and eat.\n3) Stop by the walk-through window on Main street.\n\nThey are most famous for having the best ever beer drinker's snack of delicious gravy fries.\n\nThe atmosphere is extremely low-key, because it is connected by big doors to the bar/club section. People can smoke in Nectar's, and have been for years. It is a very low-cost place, one of the lowest in the area. Cuisine: American
Parima 185 Pearl St. - 802.864.7917 $15.01 - $30 Parima is an upscale Thai restaurant located in the heart of Burlington. It offers many "exotic" dishes such as Sacred Basil Leaf and various curries, as well as your more basic Beef and Broccoli type dishes. The interior is dimly lit, offering a glimpse of warm wood everywhere you look. Parima could be very romantic given the right company.\n\nWith a large dining area spanning two floors, there are plenty of private booths. In the summer you might want to try sitting in their outside courtyard. As far as price goes, this place is not the cheapest around, with dinners mainly in the $12-$18 range, but many locals say the price is worth it. Cuisine: Thai
Penny Cluse Cafe 169 Cherry Street - 802.651.8834 The Penny Cluse is a small restaurant which caters mostly to the breakfast crowd. Although a few stragglers have been known to make it there for lunch. The atmosphere is that of a clean, well-decorated farmhouse. Cuisine: Breakfast / Brunch
Ri Ra 123 Church Street - 802.860.9401 $5.01 - $15 Ri Ras is a little bit fancier than your typical irish pub. They offer a few full dinners, and a wide array of classy bar snacks. With this bit of class, you get a slightly older crowd (not the college kids), because it isn't the cheapest place to drink. I find the atmosphere to be slightly dark, intellectual, and old fashioned but often times a lot of fun.
