West Jordan, city, Salt Lake County, northern Utah, on the western bank of the Jordan River (hence its name); settled in 1849, incorporated 1941. The city's main growth began in the 1970s after many high-technology research firms were established here. Population 27,192 (1980); 42,892 (1990); 68,336 (2000).
