Awaji 4701 W. Park - 972.519.1688 Cuisine: Sushi Recommended Dishes:mamasan roll, volcano roll, calamari salad Review:Top Notch This is simply the best sushi restaurant in Dallas. It is always a good sign when there are Japanese sushi chefs. Some "North Dallas" restaurants have Hispanic sushi chefs and college waitresses who write their name upside down on your tablepaper. Not here. The restaurant is owned by an older Japanese couple and they know sushi. Get the Mamasan roll, Volcano roll (spicy), and don't miss the Calamari Salad. Fresh salmon is always good here. For the best service, ask for Gigi.
Picasso's 3948 Legacy (at Coit) - 972.618.4143 Online Ordering Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Anything and everything; never had anything less than great. Review:Homey atmosphere and great food This little gem is never crowded. The pasta dishes are outstanding and the service is very good; the only thing that one could call lack-luster is the salad bar; not that it's bad or anything, just that it is sort of limited. But tasty; you have to give it that. We've visited at least a half dozen times in the past year and the food is always excellent, the portions are ample, and the service is friendly and very attentive. The combination platter is a great choice if you can't decide between the lasagna and the cannelloni; the garlicy shrimp dishes will ensure that you and your dining companion both enjoy the order. Prices are low, the food is good, and the service is excellent. The only drawback? Bring your own chianti; they'll uncork it and pour it for you but cannot sell wine due to their proximity to a school. Aside from that, it's everything you are searching for in a family-run Italian restaurant that doesn't serve pizza. The name is Spanish but the atmosphere and food is pure Italian.
Aparicio's Plano Tortilla Factory & Cafe 1009 East 18th Street - 972.423.6980 Online Ordering Cuisine: Mexican Recommended Dishes:Fajitas and Tamales!! Carne Guisada Tamales and Gorditas Chilaquiles for breakfast... Nachos, Enchiladas, Queso, Guacamole Review:Great place for friends and/or family!!
Review:Best Mexican food in Dallas The best home town Mexican food in the Dallas area. The chips and salsa are fresh with a great flavor, the tortillas are fresh, and the Carne Guisada is awesome. Review:THE BEST The best of everything from breakfast to dinner. Far above the rest. Stay away from the chains, eat real. Review:Awesome!!!!!!!! Review:Great food, friendly place, good price Aparicio's is expanding - besides the new place in McKinney, the original in Plano is being replaced by a new facility right next door. We will miss the funky old converted house - great ambiance and elbow-rubbing... Review:Awesome mexican food! This place has incredible chips and salsa. The queso, guacamole, and flour tortillas are also fresh and excellent. My boyfriend loves the chicken and cheese taquitos! Nothing to complain about ! Better than chain mexican food places all day long!
Bavarian Grill 221 W Parker - 972.881.0705 Cross Street: Central Expwy Cuisine: German Recommended Dishes: Schwein hocks Review:Weinerschnitzel in Plano! Although a bit loud and raucous by American standards, this place is what you would expect if you've been to Germany. Or even if you haven't, it's what you would expect! The food is traditional and the portions are ample; the beers are outstanding and the service is prompt considering the volume they handle. It's a noisy, fun, and filling taste of Germany in Plano, and we should be glad they're here. It satisfies the Central European in many of us, and fulfills the expectations of the rest of us. Good food, lots of fun, and hearty beers...what more do you want? Review:Old World This restaurant is like visiting German and then sleeping in your own bed that night!! If you like German go to the Bavarian Grill in Plano!!
Cathy's Wok & Grill 3948 Legacy Ste. 103 - 972.491.7267 Online Ordering Cuisine: Vietnamese Recommended Dishes:Pork ribs dinner, steamed dumplings, any of the garlic sauced dishes. Review:Gourmet Chinese? I dunno about gourmet, but this is really fresh and tasty. Nothing seems canned or tired, unlike some generic Chinese dishes. The veggies are crisp and tender, the seafood is fresh and flavorful, and all the fried or stir-fried dishes are crisp and clean tasting. Lots of options, and if it's not on the menu they'll make it anyway. Service is not istantaneous, but for fresh food you don't expect that anyway. Definitely best for take out; the atmosphere is a bit noisy but not awful. We prefer taking it home to enjoy with a cold beer; no alcohol is served so if you want a Heineken you can bring your own or take the food home. Definitely a cut above most of the other Asian places in Plano; diversified menu includes Vietnamese and some Japanese items as well as the various Chinese cuisines.

Fishmonger's 1915 N. Central Expressway - 972.423.3699 Cuisine: Cajun / Creole Recommended Dishes:Salmon with basil cream sauce, fried oysters, garlic crab claws Review:Great seafood Don't expect an elegant setting, but you will get more than you bargained for in fresh seafood. This place is reminiscent of a beachside "dive", complete with formica tabletops and paper napkins. But the beer is cold, the oysters and crab claws are fresh, and the grilled and fried platters are worthy of any Gulf-side hidey-hole. Definitely a casual place, but you'll be glad you visited. I predict you'll be back.
Greek Isles 3309 N. Central Expressway - 972.423.7778 Cuisine: Greek Recommended Dishes:It was all good, especially the lemon soup. Review:Greek Island getaway? Been there three times. It's a friendly and casual place that is worth a visit even if you only sample the appetizers. Everything off the menu was noteworthy, and the atmosphere is definitely "homey" Greek. The service was good, the food was memorable, and the beer was cold. What more can I say? Stop in; you'll be glad you did. Even if you can't make it to Mykonos this year, you can always pretend.
Nakamoto Japanese Cuisine 3309 N Central Expy # 360 - 972.881.0328 $15.01 - $30 Upscale Sushi selection prepared in a mall location. Cuisine: Sushi Recommended Dishes:Lunch Combination Review:Yummy A friend and I shared a combination plate that included miso soup and a side salad. The rolls included the California Rolls, Tuna Rolls, and Salmon for around $11. This was great for lunchtime. The fish was fresh and the miso and salad were great.

Black-Eyed Pea 605 West 15th St. - no phone Online Ordering Cuisine: American Recommended Dishes: pork chops! Review:They only cater to young crowd Had a very tense lunch experience today. We asked three times to have the music turned down, and even asked to be moved away from the speaker that was directly overhead. They said the music couldn't be turned down, and they wouldn't move us, so my lunch partner and I had to lean across the table to hear each other talk, then we ate as quickly as possible so we could excape the music, which was not only loud, but obnoxious - definitely not music to dine by. While the food is usually good for the price, the atmosphere is geared to the under 25 crowd...a shame since most of the patrons we could see were over 40. Review:Blackeyed Pee Good joint, decent food, horrible bar, ok service.
Cozymel's 5021 W. Park - 972.964.2809 Cuisine: Mexican Review:Not too great Every time that I go to Cozymel's during lunch, the food is not too great. It's very salty and way too pricy.
Ocean Seafood Grill 3115 Parker (at Independence) - 972.758.1232 Cuisine: Seafood Recommended Dishes:Nothing memorable but it was quickly served Review:Better than some First of all, there's no alcohol served here in spite of the advertisements for various beers on the counter. Bring your own, but be warned that you won't be quaffing a Heinie with your oysters unless it's from home. That said, the food wasn't bad, and the service was quick but unexceptional. It's better than some chain seafood restaurants but still rather unremarkable. I'm not saying it's bad, just that there wasn't much to make me go out of my way to go back. If you live nearby it's a decent quick place for some fresh seafood. But don't drive out of your way to get there; you can do as well at home.
Poor Richard's 2442 Ave. K (at Park) - 972.423.1524 Review:Change for the worse Used to be a great place to get a home made American breakfast/brunch. Even had a sign outside noting the number of eggs used. That was then, this is now. Recent renovations and expansions make it look like a Lubys. Forget the waitress that called you honey as she served the coffee. You're on your own here. Sad to say, death by expansion.
