Hurst, city, Tarrant County, northern Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth; settled 1870, incorporated 1956. Manufactures include helicopters, aircraft instruments, and paint. Hurst was a small farm center until a helicopter plant was built in the area in the early 1950s. The city is named for its first settler, William L. Hurst.
