Bryan, city, seat of Brazos County, eastern Texas; incorporated 1871. It is a commercial center located in an agricultural and petroleum-producing region. Manufactures include aluminum products, furniture, rubber items, and dairy products. Also important to the economy is Texas A&M University (1876) in adjacent College Station. The community was laid out in 1860 on land sold by William Joel Bryan, for whom the city is named.
