Monroeville, city, Allegheny County, southwestern Pennsylvania, on Turtle Creek, a suburb of Pittsburgh; incorporated as a city 1968. It is a commercial, medical, and environmental service center, with some high-technology industry. The community was organized as Patton township; in 1951 it was incorporated as the borough of Monroeville. Until the 1980s, it was an important research and development center. Population 30,977 (1980); 29,169 (1990); 29,349 (2000).
