Lebanon, city, seat of Lebanon County, southeastern Pennsylvania, in the fertile Lebanon Valley, in the colorful Pennsylvania Dutch country; incorporated 1868. It is a manufacturing city and a commercial center for the surrounding rich agricultural area; major products include metal items, chemicals, footwear, processed food, and textiles. A museum of local history is here. The community, laid out in the 1750s, was originally called Steitztown and later was renamed for the Lebanon of the Bible.
