Upper Arlington, city, Franklin County, central Ohio, on the Scioto River, a residential community near Columbus; incorporated as a city 1941. The site, settled in the early 19th century, was developed as a residential center in the 1910s. It was named for its location upstream from the village of Arlington (now Marble Cliff). Population 35,648 (1980); 34,128 (1990); 33,686 (2000).
