East Cleveland, city, Cuyahoga County, northeastern Ohio, a suburb east of Cleveland near Lake Erie; settled about 1800, incorporated as a city 1911. A large electrical lighting research and production complex here is in one of the country's first industrial parks. Communications equipment and processed food also are produced in the city. The summer estate of the American industrialist John D. Rockefeller, Forest Hill, most of which was donated to the city in 1939, is now the site of a residential development.
