Amante Gourmet Pizza 6118-B Farrington Rd - 919.493.0904 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Mexican pizza, Greek salad, subs Review:Best Pizza Experience in Chapel Hill I like to eat at the restaurant for the freshest, hottest pies. Right out of the oven, Amante pies are the best. The crust is no frills, yet tastes good, which is just the way we like it. They pile on the toppings, the veggies are fresh, and there are a lot of toppings to choose from. They don't aim for speed when creating your pies, but you can see the cooks cranking them out back there in the kitchen. When you go to the dining room, your order goes to the front of the line, too (ahead of deliveries)! It's not a full-service restaurant, but the counter workers are courteous enough to help you with whatever you need. Oh, and the dining room is a good size for a kid's birthday party, but when one's there, there's not much room for much else. Peppers downtown has great pizza, too, but that place is just plain dirty.
Crook's Corner 610 W Franklin St - 919.929.7643 $15.01 - $30 Cafe/diner style with sitdown bar, a little noisy, a little 30/40ish, with around 20 tables inside and around 10 tables outside. Southern cooking with a flair. Prices for Chapel Hill a tad high, though worth it. Servers were friendly and informative. Cuisine: Southern Recommended Dishes:Shrimp and grits Review:Southern Heaven Shrimp and grits!! Who would have thought this could be so good! I also enjoyed the barbeque w/slaw sandwich. Everything on the menu sounded great and the plates that went past our table looked fantastic. If there were only one chance to eat out in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area, this is it. Totally relaxed and excellent food and service.

Franklin Street Pizza and Pasta 163 E. Franklin Street - 919.933.5277 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Penne & Eggplant Stuffed Pizza Review:Best NY pizza downtown It's the real deal in a clean and friendly establishment. Bargains galore and signature dishes. I love the penne/egglant stuffed pizza: a whole meal in one slice. You can stuff yourself for well under $5.
Allen and Son Barbecue 6203 Millhouse Road - 919.942.7576 Cuisine: Barbecue Recommended Dishes:None pulled pork sandwich or plate Review:Not Exciting I've had the BBQ sandwich on 15/501 once and won't go back. It was not exciting even though it was cheap. And the fries were disgusting. Review:best bbq in the country I moved away from North Carolina 6 years after growing up in the area and the things I miss most are nature, friendly people, and Allen and Son bbq. Their pulled pork is amazing. I am so hungry thinking about it and it is more than 3000 miles away. The ribs are not the best, perhaps, but the pulled pork is hands down the best in the country and I have done some traveling. And of course you shouldn't get french fries at a bbq place. What was that guy thinking?
Asia Cafe 118 East Franklin Street - 919.929.0168 Cuisine: Vietnamese Recommended Dishes:Sesame Chicken Review:Good food I went in the place because of a craving for Chinese. I did not expect to receive the quality and quantity of food that I did. THe food was excellent and it is my favorite Chinese place around the University of North Carolina.
Breadmen's Restaurant 324 W Rosemary St - 919.967.7110 $5.01 - $15 Located on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Homestyle American cooking as well as pasta and vegetarian dishes. Cuisine: Vegetarian Recommended Dishes:Home fries, veggie burgers Review:Breadmen's
Review:Breadman's I have dined at Breadman's many, many times. I recently had an experience there that has caused me to never set foot in that restuarant again. Upon receiving my favorite dish (pancakes) at Breadmans, I found a hair it in. When pointing it out, the owner never apologized, although he did offer me new food. When I said that I shouldn't have to pay for the food as I didn't eat any of it, he became very rude and very loudly threw me out of his restuarant after taking me into the kitchen to point out that most of his employees had black hair. The hair I found was blonde -- waitress was blonde, other food handlers were blonde.
Thai Palace Restaurant 1206 Raleigh Road (NC 54), Glenwood Square ShoppingCtr - 919.967.5805 Cuisine: Thai Review:Check Your Credit Card Slip Food is very good, but after my last "takeout" visit, there was a 20% tip added on top of the amount I authorized on the charge slip. I was very disappointed and will not patronize them in the future.
