Rockville Centre, village, Nassau County, southeastern New York, on Long Island; incorporated 1893. A residential community near New York City, it also serves as a regional finance center. Molloy College (1955) is here and a state park is nearby. Founded by sea captains in 1854, it is probably named for its rocky soil.
