Changpai Chinese Restaurant 39-26 61st St - 718.672.6000 $15.01 - $30 Serving Halal Chinese food and also good Thai style soup. Entrees are $4 - $10. Newly renovated store front space (opened early June 2002). Cuisine: Indian / Pakistani Recommended Dishes:fried chicken, Thai soup, chicke vegetable, sweet and sour prawn curry, chicken fried rice, oops this is nearly everything I ordered! Review:Tasty, comfortable food with friendly service I am new to Halal Chinese food and so have little comparison. I know that it is Chinese food prepared by or to match the taste of South Asians (the owners/cooks here are South Asian, not Chinese). I don't know if there is a particular part of India or Pakistan associated with this. All I know for sure is that every bite I had was totally delicious. Everything from the tiny fried shrimp and fried chicken to the spicy Thai soup seemed to have been prepared with care. They have renovated the space to look like a nice little fancy Chinese restaurant but the taste made me feel I was eating at someone's grandma's house and she can really really cook.
Elmhurst Famous Pizza 75-12 37th Avenue - 718.205.5000 $5.01 - $15 The only size pizza they have is a 10" size pie with a crispy crust. It is a large individual size, one should fill up most people, some people will have some left over. There are some relatively unique toppings like potatoes and the very spicy Indo-Pak and cauliflower. In addition to the pizza they serve spaghetti with a variety of sauces, charcoal grilled burgers and souvlaki, and sandwiches (salami, meatball, turkey, hot pastrami, etc.). Cuisine: Pizza Recommended Dishes:Hot Pepper, Onion&Pepper Review:Traditionally Delicious

Along with grilled meats and fish, the menu has a fairly complete selection of Filipino favorites. Cuisine: Filipino Recommended Dishes:bbq Review:great bbq great pork bbq. . .broke 'da mouth!!!!!

Cuisine: Indian / Pakistani Recommended Dishes:Masala Dosa and Thali paper masala dosa Review:Ambience OK in this crowded market area I liked the food. However the waiting period during weekends is not bearable and service also not impressive. Review:Grreat food, grrreat people!! OK the atmosphere is very "homely," the food's good, and the people are great. I'm kind of new to indian food... The assistant manager there gave me a history of indian food with categorization and gauged what was suitable for me. I ended up ordering a "paper masala dosa" .. scrumptuous!! Review:totally amazing THE BEST FOOD I have ever had that was not home cooked....maybe the best food I have ever had!

El Guaton 68-14 Roosevelt Ave - 718.478.1199 $5.01 - $15 Small pizza diner type dining area with five to six tables.\n\nThere is the pizza side of the menu which includes heroes, calzones and a variety of pastas. Then there is the "El Guaton's Hot Chilean Corner." Featured items include empanadas (meat pies) and Chilean sandwiches. The breads for the sandwiches (pan amasado, a large soft roll) are baked daily at the restaurant. The sandwich fillings may be pork, chicken or beef. While you can get ground beef with typical burger fixings the chacarero is a good example of a Chilean specialty: thin slices of grilled beef with avocado, tomatoes, mayo and blanched and dressed string beans. The string bean can be replaced with sauerkraut to make it a churrasco completo. Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:so far, chacarero Review:Chilean specialties make this a special place This is my first Chilean sandwich experience so saying that I had the best chacarero ever may not be saying much. Still, the tasty pan amasado (thick soft bun/roll) holding a generous amount of grilled beef and avacado has to qualify in the top 10 sandwiches I have ever had. The string beans are an interesting addition, being lightly cooked so that they are still a little crunchy but don't taste raw. As a crunchy green they could be looked upon as a lettuce replacement but it was more than that. I will definately be going back to try other items on the menu like cazuela de vacuno, described as chef's choice of meat stewed with potato, corn, yellow squash, green beans and rice.

Joe's Shanghai Restaurant 82-74 Broadway - 718.639.6888 $5.01 - $15 Wide variety of Chinese food. First location opened in about 1995, now there are five locations in the area. Elmhurst is the third location which opened in 1997. The decor is pleasant with carpet and muted greens and browns. Most well known for its "juicy steamed buns;" many people like the pork but the restaurant considers the pork/crab buns as its best offering. Cuisine: Chinese Recommended Dishes:Pork Steam Buns, Turnip Cakes, Ginger Chicken Review:We love it.

Takrai Thai 82-80 Broadway - 718.898.7996 $15.01 - $30 Extensive menu, casual dining atmosphere with touches, like a variety of teas by the pot and several Glen Ellen wines available by the glass, to encourage leisurely dining. The Thai spicy dishes are authentically hot but can usually be modified to suit the taste of diners. Cuisine: Thai Recommended Dishes:Tom Yum, Larb, Satay and other grilled meats Review:Lots of choices, Excellent Food This is one of a handful of Thai restaurants that serves the truly great blend of hot, sour, savory blend of Thai flavors without compromises. With lots of variety on the menu not every dish is spicy hot, but for my tastes the spicy dishes are where most of the good flavors are.
