Review:DO NOT overlook this place! One of the top restaurants in the Lake Placid area, bar none. Food, service, and atmosphere are professionally executed and are top-knotch. Prices are reasonable considering the value you'll receive. I've been a customer ever since they first opened and I will continue to visit every chance I can. Many wonderful dinners and memories there. Need I say more?
Nicola's Over Main 90 Main St. - 518.523.4430 Cuisine: Mediterranean Recommended Dishes: New York Steak Review:Ate here recently and was very pleased with the attentiveness, supurb menu with wonderful preparation. It was a weeknight in early September and the place was busy without being noisy. Review:Top Chef in the High Peaks Area While visiting the Lake Placid area we were very pleased with the meal we had at Nicola's. The food, service, and decor were all top notch. Although most Mediterranean cusine, we really liked the steaks we were served. Excellent wine list too.
Goldberries Restaurant 137 Main St. - 518.523.1799 Recommended Dishes:the pancakes Review:A real gem! What can I say? Good food, good service, and reasonable prices in a family-oriented restaurant. I've eaten there numerous times. No complaints. The owner is a very gracious host and is personally involved with the daily operation. Great scenic views, especially from the upstairs dining room. Dining on the outdoor patio in summer with the mountains in the background is a real treat. Check out the pancakes for breakfast. Unbelieveable! Bet you can't eat three of them. Highly recommended if you're in Lake Placid!

Cuisine: Steaks Recommended Dishes:steaks Review:A good bet for a great meal. A trendy little restaurant-cafe in downtown Lake Placid with a nice view of the lake. Casual dining. Great food and great service. Emphasis on food and service. Somewhat limited seating in the dimly lit dining room so get there early for a good seat. We've been there several times and enjoyed our visits.
Howard Johnson's Restaurant 90 Saranac Ave. - 518.523.2241 Review:This used to be a regular stop for us. Food quality and service used to be very good but have slipped in recent years. Last visit there in 2000 was very disappointing. Last known to be family-owned and operated. Interesting view from the rear dining room.
