Great Neck, village, Nassau County, southeastern New York, on the northern shore of Long Island, a suburb of New York City; settled mid-17th century, incorporated 1922. Situated on Great Neck Peninsula (from which its name is derived), the village is primarily residential with small-scale firms producing electrical equipment. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (1943) is at nearby Kings Point. In the 1920s it was a noted residence of writers (including F. Scott Fitzgerald) and other celebrities.
