Bocce Club Pizzeria 4174 Bailey Avenue And other locations - 716.833.1344 Recommended Dishes:PIZZA Review:Comfort Food My friend and I had to move away about 18 years ago, but to different locations. When I was talking to her the other day somehow it came up that she still remembers Bocce's phone number and she rattled it off. I could have cried. We both could have. You never stop being homesick for the comfort food and and the neighborhood you call home.

Billy Ogden's 1834 William Street - 716.896.8018 $30.01 - $50 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Stuffed Hot Pepper (appetizer), James Beard Pork Tenderloin (dinner), Dom Blanche (dessert) Stuffed Hot Peppers and Breaded Zucchini (appetizers), Bentley's Badass Porterhouse (Rob's entree choice), Shrimp Talley (Dawn's entree choice), D Review:Fabulous Food at Billy Ogden's
Review:I went to BILLY O's last week and had a porterhouse and it was overcooked (I had asked for med-rare). The waitress was rude and reaked of cigarettes. I thought that a restaurant which got great reviews the service would be good but she was too damn rude. The only thing that saved my meal was the desert, it was A Dom Blanch (Two crepes vanilla and chocolate both wrapped around vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and nuts, the plate was covered with a nice thick sauce with a hot fugde design and fresh fruit nicely presented) If it wasn't for that my meal would have gone to waste. Review:Just Superb I did not know to expect such great food in the middle of nowhere. I was stuck in Buffalo for a sales meeting, and the customer suggested we go to Billy Ogden's for dinner. I couldn't have been more surprised. The conversation was awful, but the food was outstanding. The menu is basically entirely made up of "specials" and the food is prepared with a great deal of care, and while the presentation is simple, the dishes are visually appealling and flavors can be quite complex and satisfying. The staff is very friendly, in a very informal way. The desserts are to die for. Overall, an oasis of good food on a dark country road. Review:BUFFALO'S BEST!
Review:Everyone Was Happy ! I went there with five couples who had never been there before. EveryOne ordered something different. We all loved it.
Kuni's Sushi Bar 752 Elmwood Avenue - 716.881.6819 Recommended Dishes: All food is of high quality. Review:When I want sushi I usually go to Kuni's. It's right on the Elmwood strip and easy to get to. It's small, so either make reservations ahead of time or anticipate a wait. It's very popular. They will give you take out. Review:Kunis Holds its own with the best of them.
Mother's Restaurant 33 Virginia Place - 716.882.2989 Recommended Dishes:I haven't had a bad one...but I especially recommend the specials. Review:You have to try this place Here is one of the better-kept secrets in Buffalo. My husband and I took his and my parents to this place and were blown away by the food. I ordered a dish with duck and sweet potatoes off the "specials" list, and was so impressed. I found myself slowing down to enjoy it more. Also excellent was a fish dish my in-laws ordered, also off the specials list. The food isn't cheap but it's good value. Make reservations on Fri. and Sat. nights because it does fill up. As a "PS", I especially recommend the patio dining in the summer. Review:Hidden Buffalo treasure Mother's is hidden right in the heart of downtown. This restaurant is half ordinary neighborhood bar which is in stark contrast to the elegant, dimly-lit dining area. The food is excellent, and what you would expect from a top restaurant. What draws us is their excellent wine list which is very reasonalby priced. My only criticism is that it is that the air is a little smokey because there is not a real separation from the bar-area.
Bob & John's La Hacienda 1545 Hertel Ave - 716.836.5411 Recommended Dishes:ANY PIZZA, REALLY Review:BEST 'ZA IN BUFFALO Plain and simple, the Best Pizza in the city. Great variety of pizzas, too. Try the BBQ Chicken Pizza or the Chicken Finger Pizza for something different. All food is first rate. Service is very good. Good family restaurant. Don't miss it if you're in North Buffalo.

Chef's Restaurant 291 Seneca Street - 716.856.9187 Cuisine: Italian Review:Chef's is a Buffalo Landmark Good no-frills traditional Italian food. Chef's has a busy, informal atmosphere and is a great place to dine before a Sabers game or other downtown event. Chef's restaurant is known by all in the Buffalo area, and is famous for its Speghetti-Parm (Speghetti covered in a blanket of mozerella cheese. Wine and beer selection is marginal. Prices are very reasonable.
Curly's Bar & Grill 647 Ridge Road - 716.824.9716 Cuisine: Caribbean Recommended Dishes:Any seafood dish Review:One of the Southtown's Best Restaurants My wife and I have been enjoying Curley's for many years. The restaurant has a wonderful neighborhood feel. The small bar is very crowded on weekends but the atmosphere is fun and lively. I believe they do not take reservations, so be prepared to stand and have a cocktail (or two) while you wait for a table. The food is outstanding and we especially enjoy the seafood... as well as the specialty jerk-chicken. Curly's also has a tastefull wine list and serves a good assortment of beers, some from local breweries. Alas, the prices are very reasonable.

Roseland Restaurant 490 Rhode ISland Street - 716.882.3328 $5.01 - $15 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:anything but particularly osso bucco Review:Elegant food and ambiance in a city neighborhood This is a highly regarded restaurant which still lives up to its fine reputation. The food is fine Italian dining. There may be a plate of spaghetti on the menu but why order that when you can have delectable seafood creations or veal prepared with delicate sauces. As a special you may be treated to very tasty osso bucco. Caesar salad is prepared tableside. For a real show-stopper have a flaming drink, also prepared tableside. The service is cordial and efficient; the wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu and the specials. Make reservations however as even early in the week the place fills up.
Ambrosia 476 Elmwood Avenue - 716.881.2196 Cuisine: Mediterranean Review:The food was not fresh.
