Baldwin, unincorporated residential community, Nassau County, southeastern New York, on the southern shore of Long Island, on Baldwin Bay. It is a summer resort and fishing center and contains some manufacturing industries. Settled in the 1640s, the community is administered as part of Hempstead Township. Population 31,630 (1980); 22,719 (1990).
