Pie, pie, pie Yankee Pot Roast, Swiss Chocolat Almond Pie Review:Grandma's is the best!
Review:Best Place in Albany, NY This is the best restaurant in the Capital area. The food is excellent, pies awesome, and it's clean and friendly. Review:Very Good Pies Haven't sat and eaten here before, but we take home the pies. OMG, the pies are the best. My wife and I were watching FoodTV and they had a special on pies. We found this restaurant and feel lucky it is near our home. Review:Wow Must Go Again We were on the way to visit my husband's sister who is a cloistered nun in Vermont. We just happened upon Grandma's. Now we cannot wait to go back again so we can go to Grandma's.
El Mariachi 62 Central Avenue - 518.465.2568 Cuisine: Spanish Recommended Dishes:Mole Poblano mole poblano Review:Authentic Mexican Food As a native of Mexico, I can attest to the fact that the food at El Mariachi is authentic. The athmosphere is comfortable and the service courteous and prompt. For those who would rather not have Mexican food, their Spanish fare (while a little bland for my taste) is also very good. Review:Exelent service, food and ambiance, loved the place alot. I am from Puebla Mexico, and it seemed like I was eating at home. A lot of Poblano dishes.
Jack's Oyster House 42 State Street - 518.465.8854 $15.01 - $30 Cuisine: Seafood Review:Definitely worth the trip... Jack's is definitely an Albany tradition and has been in it's present location more than 75 years. Open for lunch and dinner, the wood panelled dining room and abundance of service (like the old days...you have waiters and busboys falling over each other to make sure you have want you need but not to the level of being annoying). A bar is connected to the restaurant portion if you wish to have a drink before/after your meal. The prices are very reasonable (figure about $20/person unless you want more expensive wines or the pricier entrees). Parking can be tight especially during the weekday at lunchtime. However a pay parking garage is just around the corner.
Miss Albany Diner 893 Broadway - 518.465.9148 Cuisine: American Recommended Dishes:French Toast. Review:Great Breakfast The outside is a typical shiny diner car, but the food inside is nothing predictable. The stuffed french toast is to die for. Space is limited, but turnover is not that long. You may think you are in the wrong neighborhood trying to find this gem, but you are not. They offer a wide selection of baked goods to satisfy anyone's tastes (scones, glazed delights, corn muffins, etc..)
Yono's 64 Colvin Avenue Armory Center - 518.486.9418 Cuisine: Indonesian Recommended Dishes:Specials of the day. Review:Fine Dining Owner Yono Pournomo is what every fine dining restaurant owner should strive for. Not only does he consistently deliver fantastic and diverse entrees, but he is a friend to both the nubies and regulars. His son joined him recently as the somalier helping anyone with smart selections. One of the things I enjoy here is eating a special featuring something that could eat me (bear, shark, alligator, etc...) For the less adventurous there are standards, but you can get that at home anytime. Live it up. Yono's recent move to the Armory Center left some fans longing for the olde Brownstone in downtown Albany, but they have certainly set themselves up in an interesting environment.
Bomber's Burrito Bar 258 Lark Street - 518.463.9636 Cuisine: Mexican Review:Lukewarm Burrito
Review:Great Food I go to Bomber's at least once every weekend, because it's got great food and a nice laid-back atmosphere. I usually order a bbq chicken burrito with rasta cheese fries. It's great food, great service, and it's cheap. I've never had a problem with service there.
El Loco Mexican Cafe 465 Madison Avenue - 518.436.1855 Cuisine: Mexican Recommended Dishes:vegetable burrito, black bean burrito tamale Autumn's Break ( Black Bean Tacos) Review:Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight

Lombardo's 121 Madison Avenue - 518.462.9180 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Chicken Parm, Tiramasou, Eggplant parm, Matinis Review:Olde Tyme Favorite
BEFFs - Big Ed Fat Fields 15 Watervliet Avenue - 518.482.2333 Cuisine: Fast Food Recommended Dishes:wings and pizzas Chicken Marsala at Citones beer Review:Bad Service I was at beffs in Delmar 2 weeks ago and I had the worst service I have ever had. My waitress seemed very snotty to me after she messed up my order, and, in addition, the pizza I ordered was burnt, my husband's hamburger was burnt, and his french fries were over-cooked, I don't think I'll ever go there again. Review:BEFFs in Albany
Review:Great Place Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. I had the Vermonter, my husband had a burger, and our daughter had the French dip. All were delicious! The Irish fries are also a nice treat. Couldn't believe the crowd that came for lunch...waiting in the lobby for a place to sit. Will definitely go again. Review:Hideous I can sum the whole experience up in one word. Hideous. Especially this one poor ignorant fool who was a bartender there and who constantly chewed on a straw and was rude to everyone he came in contact with. He belongs pushing a broom somewhere late at nite and not interacting with the public. The place has poor service, and is not clean, and I emphasise the not clean. I noticed it has recently closed and I can only hope will not reopen. Many a stomach ache will be saved this way. Big Ed Fat Fields, whoever or whatver he is, certaintly did not have an interest in running this place. He let the lunatics run the asylum. This was the only tavern in the area that literally closed its doors at 10:00 on a Saturday night. I mean, a place like this, if you don't make your money on a Friday or Saturday nite, when do you? So all I have to say is good bye, good riddance, and may Beff's rest in piece. Review:mmm mmm mmm I went for lunch an it was damn delicious. That cook, Tim Brennan I think his name is, sure can cook! Keep it up Beffs!
