Union, township, Union County, northeastern New Jersey, near Elizabeth; incorporated 1808. Manufactures include pharmaceuticals, chemicals, machinery, electrical equipment, and refined petroleum. Kean University (1855) and several 18th-century buildings are here. Former residents of Connecticut founded the community as Connecticut Farms in the late 1740s. During the American Revolution, the Battle of Connecticut Farms (1780) was fought here.
