Pennsauken, township, Camden County, southwestern New Jersey, on the Delaware River; incorporated 1892. It is a residential and industrial community near Camden and Philadelphia. Major manufactures include metal and petroleum products, processed food, and chemicals. Settled around 1840, the community grew as a river port and summer resort. Population 33,775 (1980); 34,738 (1990); 34,733 (1996 estimate).
