Cherry Hill, urban township, Camden County, western New Jersey, on the Cooper River and the southern branch of Pennsauken Creek. Cherry Hill, a residential suburb of Camden, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, developed a diversified industrial base beginning in the 1940s. The community, formerly called Delaware Township, received its present name in 1961. The Garden State Race Track here was largely destroyed by fire in 1977. Population 68,785 (1980); 69,348 (1990); 69,319 (1996 estimate).
