The UNLV athletic teams, especially the men's basketball team, which was tremendously successful during the late 1980s and early 1990s, provide entertainment for sports fans. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and the Grand Canyon are accessible from the city.
