North Platte, city, seat of Lincoln County, central Nebraska, at the confluence of the North Platte and South Platte rivers; settled 1866, incorporated 1873. It is an agricultural center with one of the largest railroad classification yards in the U.S. Manufactures include processed meat and doors. North Platte is the site of a community college; the Lincoln County Historical Society Museum, exhibiting pioneer items; and the annual Nebraskaland Days celebration, featuring a rodeo. Scouts Rest Ranch, once the home of Buffalo Bill, and Lake Maloney are nearby.
