Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: gator balls, chilli, fajita.
Review: Burritos as big as your head
Georges Red Pepper Grill is my all time favorite restaurant. It has the friendliest staff anywhere, and the menu is varied enough to satisfy almost anyone. Georges gater balls are not to be missed, and the chilli is the best.
Oven The

Recommended Dishes: Everything Malai Kofta
Review: Best Restuarant in Lincoln, Nebraska
If you don't like eating at The Oven, then you can forget about eating anywhere else in Lincoln, Nebraska. That's all there is to it.
Review: Excellent Indian Food
Friendly staff, great food, excellent service, and a casual, enjoyable atmosphere. They offer a wide range of vegetarian dishes in addition to the usual fare. Their wine selection is good, and they have a full-service bar. Recommended.
Mazatlan Mexican Restaurant
211 N 70 St - 402.464.7201
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: Many Chile Colorado
Review: Good Mexican Food, and Lots of It!
A fairly small place, tucked around the corner from a couple of shopping centers, it can be a little hard to find. The service is great, the staff is friendly, and the food is excellent, served hot and fresh and in large portions (almost too large - I've never seen plates that big!). The prices are very reasonable.
Review: Underrated and Often Overlooked
This is where you want to go to get authentic Mexican cuisine served by a polite staff in a nice atmosphere. Get away from all of the teenyboppers at those other places (one in particular) and enjoy an excellent Mexican meal here. The restaurant is clean and the food is enjoyable.

Coffee House The
1324 P St - 402.477.6611
Cuisine: Cafe / Coffee Shop
Recommended Dishes: Huge coffee and Irish Mocha Mex Mocha gourmet coffee
Review: Great Place to get your Buzz!
I was passing through Lincoln and stopped at The Coffee House to get a cup of coffee for the road. Not only were they friendly and have whatever coffee I could imagine, the atmosphere reminded me of what a coffee house should be like! I reccommend this place to anyone that likes coffee! The 24 oz size was great for my road trip. Plus they even filled my thermos.
Review: Service, Atmosphere and the best Coffee Ever!

Review: The Trendy Pretentious Sophisticate Hangout
Join your fellow trendy hipster Lincolnites for an overpriced mediocre sandwich and silly gourmet coffee so you can relieve yourself of some cash and socialize with others like yourself, because you are not eating at The Coffee House for the food. Bring your laptop computer or palm device to keep up appearances and perhaps stuff a bottle of Pepto Bismol in your backpack with your college books, because you might need it if you actually eat the food.
El Toro Mexican Restaurant
2600 S 48 St - 402.488.3939
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: anything ALL the margarita
Review: The Best
If you like Mexican food without all the additives, go to El Toro. Prices are great and you will not go home hungry. I eat at El Toro and its sister restaurants (La Mexicana and Mazatlan) several times per week.
Review: The Best Mexican Cuisine
Have eaten at El Toro many times and have to say simply “It’s the best Mexican food”. They serve a wide variety of dishes from beef to chicken to pork and even vegetarian dishes, ALL which have a unique flavor of their own. There’s also an excellent selection of beverages to compliment any dish If you’re worried about paying too much, don’t. El Toro has very reasonable prices and ample portions on all meals they serve weather it be a lunch special or dinner. Just bring your appetite for good food.
Review: Try somewhere else for the best
My plate was not that full and so I left with little in my belly. The rice and beans were bland and tasted a lot like water. The taco, ground beef, was bland as well...the meat tasted like Sloppy Joe. The service was best but it is hard to pay for such bad food and still tip well.
Vincenzos Ristorante
808 P Street, STE 100 - 402.435.3889
Cuisine: Italian
Recommended Dishes: Farfalle y Vodka (or words to that effect) Chicken Soto Any of the seafood pasta dishes
Review: Excellent Italian Food
The food has consistently been very good and the service is usually excellent. I don't think we've ever gotten anything there that we didn't enjoy. The atmosphere is nice without being overdone. The place is very clean and the employees have always been friendly. The worst thing (aside from trying to park in the Haymarket) I can think of is that the place can get a bit crowded and loud, but it's not usually a problem.
Review: Don't Miss It!
Tucked away in the historic Haymarket is this terrific Italian restaurant. Be sure to start off with the Bruschetta, for your meal try the Chicken Soto - you are guaranteed to dream about this perfect chicken dish everytime you think of your favorite meal.
Review: Food Smells Better than Old Building
At first I was detracted by the hint of a foul smelling old building, which almost caused me to leave prior to eating. But I was glad I stayed when I received the meal. The food is pretty good and priced relatively fair. I believe I will return to dine here again even though we received a parking ticket last time; the Haymarket is always bothersome to deal with downtown parking in that area.
Famous Dave's
2750 Pine Lake Rd - 402.421.3434
Cuisine: Barbecue
Recommended Dishes: RIBS BBQ Ribs full slab
Review: This is the best
Nww I've lived all over and this is the best barbeque I have ever had....and I mean better than all the BBQ I had while living in Texas!
Review: Too Famous for Me
Lazlos Brewery & Grill
710 P St - 402.434.5636
Cuisine: Bar / Pub / Brewery
Recommended Dishes: French Dip, Prime Rib, Fish. pasta
Review: The Best in Lincoln

Review: Lincolnite Preppy Hype
The trendy place to eat overpriced food and house brewed beer, which is satisfactory at best. There’s better food elsewhere for less but if you want to fit in with all of the hipsters and UNL crowd, do the trendy thing and go to Lazlos!
Barrymores
124 N 13 St - 402.476.6494
Cuisine: Bar / Pub / Brewery
Review: Setting Second-to-None
Barrymore's is actually a little bit difficult to find, in the alleyway behind the movie theatre, but it is a must-visit for theatre buffs. Barrymore's lies in the "backstage" of the movie theatre, a former vaudeville house converted for cinema audiences. Barrymore's is behind the screens. As you enter, you pass an enormous disused lighting board, and as you gaze up, you can see the fly area far above. I must admit to never having consumed more than drinks in this space. The service was above-par, I must say, but what I must really say is that the space excells beyond any other in the entire midwest...
Spaghetti Works
228 N 12 St - 402.475.0900 $5.01 - $15
Cuisine: Italian
Recommended Dishes: Lasagna
Review: Tastes Like Money To Me
To start off the wait wasn't that great, I waited for a half hour but the table I was placed at was a great view. I found the waiters polite and motivated. To start off I ordered some breadsticks which were very delicious and soft. I thought the drinks I ordered tasted kinda sour, but I had a soda to back it up. The meal was great though it had a certain grandma touch to it that made it look great, but it did taste a little under cooked but what are you going to do for the price that I paid.
Crane River Brewpub and Cafe
200 N 11 St - 402.476.7766
Cuisine: Continental / European
Recommended Dishes: the attitude adjustment pie cheese and artichoke dip w/ beer bread (app) garbanzo burger, cheese and artichoke dip, four cheese pasta w/ vegetables, oriental salad, fish and chips, blackened chicken sandwich, mighty red gumbo, red beans and rice Veggie B
Review: Poor Service, Poor Attitude, Poor Management

Review: Poor Service, but Worth a Visit

Review: Good Place

Review: Food interesting, Service average, Prices good

Review: Are we talking about the same place??
My partner and I and a number of friends have gone to Crane River at least once a week for the past three years. The service has always been friendly, the tables clean, and the food wonderful. Mistakes have been made on occasion, but they are always quickly rectified. True, a couple of the servers aren't as friendly as the rest, but at the worst they're still professional and efficient. Crane River has a good selection of some of the best vegetarian food around; we've never been disappointed. I can't address the beer since I don't drink it, but their coffee drinks are great. Maybe the people who had all the trouble need to evaluate their own interpersonal skills (and tipping habits) and then give the place another try.
Review: Bad service, good food
I always thought I was the only one that thought Crane River waitstaff were rude. They are, and I frequent the place quite often. Fortunately, most of the food is quite good and reasonably priced. They are often NOT crowded, which is nice for the customer b/c it keeps things quiet, but makes me wonder how long they can stay in business. My summary is this: Good Food, Good Beer, Poor Service. Work on the service and I would recommend Crane River to others. As it is now, most of my friends aren't too keen on going there b/c of the unwelcoming attitude.
Review: Better than the Applebee's clones
Arturos Restaurante & Cantina
813 Q St - 402.475.8226
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: Try the Artaco
Review: Mariachi Band occassionally Friday nights

Review: Awful
This was quite honestly the worst Mexican food I've ever had--it's far from authentic and runny. I wouldn't eat there again.
Chili's Restaurant
6730 S 27 St - 402.420.2800
Cuisine: Mexican
Ticos
17Th & M - 402.475.1048
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: The Deluxe Nachos (at La Bamba!)
Review: Mediocre Mexican Food
I've had better Mexican food at Taco Bell. The selection isn't that great, either, especially if you're a vegetarian. The carpet is kind of grungy, and the place smells kind of strange sometimes - like stale cigarette smoke and mold or something. Go to La Paz or Mazatlan if you want really good Mexican food. If you're stuck downtown, go to La Bamba for good fast-food Mexican.
