Raytown, city, Jackson County, western Missouri, a residential suburb adjoining Kansas City; incorporated 1950. Manufactures include clothing, electric equipment, and aircraft parts. A water park is here. The community was settled about 1848 and named for William Ray, a local blacksmith. It remained a small village until the post-World War II growth of the Kansas City metropolitan area.
