Richfield, city, Hennepin County, southeastern Minnesota; incorporated as a city 1964. It is primarily a residential suburb located south of Minneapolis. Settled in 1854, the community is named for the fertile farmland of the area. Population 37,851 (1980); 35,710 (1990); 34,439 (2000).
