Fridley, city, Anoka County, eastern Minnesota, on the Mississippi River, a suburb of Minneapolis; incorporated as a city 1957. Major manufactures include naval ordnance, pumps, electrical equipment, machine tools, medical supplies, generators, processed food, and cosmetics. In 1847 the area was settled by Major Abram M. Fridley, an agent of the Hudson's Bay Company. Population 30,228 (1980); 28,335 (1990); 27,449 (2000).
