Columbia Heights, city, Anoka County, eastern Minnesota, a suburb north of Minneapolis, on the Mississippi River; settled 1860s, incorporated as a city 1921. It is primarily residential with some manufacturing industries. The city's name was selected in a contest in 1898. Population 20,029 (1980); 18,910 (1990); 18,520 (2000).
