50's Grill 5524 Brooklyn Blvd - 612.560.4947 $5.01 - $15 Cozy, faux fifties diner that serves generous portions of comfort food. Well-known locally for its real mashed potatoes, meat loaf, soups and desserts. EVERYTHING is made from scratch. Plan on at least 1/2-1 hour wait on Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday noon. The wait is made more charming by a waiting area furnished as a 1950s era living room. It looks just like Grandma's, right down to the Rosemeade wall sconces. Cuisine: Dessert / Ice Cream Recommended Dishes:Any of the supreme burgers or dinners chopped steak, turkey, bread, potatoes & gravy, butter brickle ice cream Review:Excellent food and bakery Great home-cooked meals, good prices, great service and value. Bakery is excellent, from their cheesecake to their pies and cakes. Old-fashioned ice cream fountain with great Brown's ice cream, in a league of it's own. Review:Best Restaurant Around I have been eating at this restaurant for over 10 years and I must say it is my favorite. I have yet to find a restaurant that can compare. It has the best food, service and prices. Hard Rock Cafe is nowhere near as good as the 50's Grill. Review:One of my favorites This is a fun, kid friendly restaurant. It would be nice if they had kid sized desserts, but desserts are big enough to share. It is also a fun date night. The Sunday Dinner Specials are an especially good value as they include entree, salad, bread, potato, vegetable and dessert. I have NEVER had a bad meal here-it's always great.
