Warren, city in Macomb County in southeastern Michigan. It is an industrial and residential city in the Detroit metropolitan region. The chief manufactures are motor vehicles and motor-vehicle parts. The city supports the Warren Symphony and is the site of the General Motors Technical Center, a community college, and a United States Army arsenal.
The community, settled in the 1830s, was chiefly an agricultural center until its manufacturing facilities were expanded during and following World War II (1939-1945). It is named in honor of Joseph Warren, a political leader who was killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill at the beginning of the American Revolution. Warren incorporated as a city in 1957.
