Troy, city, Oakland County, southeastern Michigan, near Detroit and Pontiac; incorporated 1955. It is a residential and commercial center and contains manufacturing industries producing electronic equipment; automobiles and automotive parts and supplies; and hardware. In the city are Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration (1968) and the Troy Museum and Historic Village. The community, settled in the early 1820s, remained relatively rural until the 1950s, when it began to grow rapidly.
