Saint Clair Shores, city, Macomb County, southeastern Michigan, on Lake Saint Clair (after which the city is named), a residential community near Detroit; incorporated as a city 1951. It is a commercial and boating center with several marine-related industries. Motor-vehicle parts also are produced here. It was settled by the French and Belgians in the early 1800s. Large-scale growth began in the 1950s. Population 76,210 (1980); 68,107 (1990); 63,096 (2000).
