Anna's Taqueria
1412 Beacon Street - 617.739.7300 $5.01 - $15
Inexpensive burritos, tacos, and other varieties of Mexican-American food, served in a cafeteria-style atmosphere. There is another location on Harvard St. in Brookline, and there are Cambridge and Somerville locations as well.
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: super burritos and quesadillas (hot sauce a must!) Super Quesadilla w/ carnitas chicken
Review: Best Bang for the Buck
It's quick, healthy, cheap, and very tasty. The super burritos will fill you up and won't cost you much. I get a super burrito and a small coke for under $5. You pay as much at some fastfood place and their food there isn't is good or healthy as it is at Anna's. Warning: This place can be addictive! It seriously is the best bang for your buck. The only downside: long lines during peak hours (because it's so darn popular). One extra bonus: it's open until 11 pm every night which is super cool when you have a craving.
Review: amazing
The best food ever. It is so good even people who hate Mexican food love it. It's so good that I weigh like 600 hundred pounds.
Brookline Spa
75 Harvard St. - 617.566.9446 $5.01 - $15
No facials or herbal wraps here; for those who don't know, a "spa" in the Boston area is another name for a convenience store. But this isn't just a convenience store (and yes, it does have some typical convenience store items for sale), either. It offers subs and pizzas for takeout or eating at the few seats in the shop. The decor is basic, like most pizza and sub shops.
Cuisine: Deli / Sandwiches
Recommended Dishes: the texan
Review: Great!
I go to the Brookline Spa several times a week. They have a lot of regulars which is a testament to the quality of their food. Their sandwiches are great and their chocolate chip cookies are perfect. The Spa has a wide selection of candy, chips, beverages (including wine and beer) and frozen yogurt. I have never gotten any food from the Spa that I wasn't 100% satisfied with.
Review: The Best Subs Ever
I moved to California a year ago and the food here doesn't come close to the spa. Everytime I go back I have to go at least a couple times. People in Brookline should be grateful they live so close to the best subs in the country.
Chef Chow's House
230 Harvard Street - 617.739.2469 $5.01 - $15
Open since 1982, Chef Chow's House is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Mandarin, Szechuan, and Hunan Cuisines.
Cuisine: Chinese
Recommended Dishes: Szechuan Crispy Orange Beef Szechuan Crispy Orange Beef
Review: Very good food and great service.
I fell in love with their Szechuan Crispy Orange Beef. They have fast and friendly service. It's worth the trip, coming from Boston.
Review: The best Chinese Restaurant ever.
This is the best restaurant I have been to. They have great foods with good service, and really cool specials that change all the time. They have a good and extensive wine list, and there is nice and relaxing background music. There can some waits during the weekends and holidays, sometimes even on weekdays, but it's worth the wait.
Corrib Pub Restaurant
201 Harvard St. - 617.232.8787 $5.01 - $15
Bar and restaurant, serving sandwiches, fish and chips, and other traditional bar food. The bar and restaurant have separate entrances, which allows The Corrib to be one of the only establishments in Brookline that permits smoking (in the bar only).
Cuisine: Irish
Recommended Dishes: Potato and egg sandwich, with cheese
Review: Corrib Pub the Best Restaurant In the World!!!! Most Irish Restaurant I've Been To. If You Don't Go Here You Don't Know What You're Missing!
It was really good, and very Irish. I think they should put one in the Bunker Hill Mall, Charlestown, MA, there are many openings for restaurants and Charlestown Townies love the Irish and Irish things, and also love the Irish food, so please suggest to put a Corrib Pub down there in Charlestown, a lot of Townies would go there. Beleive me I'm a townie and I LOVED it.
Sichuan Garden
295 Washington St. - 617.734.1870 $5.01 - $15
Casual Szechuan spot in Brookline Village.

Anna's Taqueria
446 Harvard St. - 617.277.7111 $5.01 - $15
Casual spot for inexpensive burritos and tacos. Anna's offers counter service.
Cuisine: Mexican
Recommended Dishes: Quesadillas are the best! I love the Carnitas (pork) Super Burito myself! Carnitas super burrito. burrito/quesadilla steak quesadilla w/ rice, salsa, lettuce, lot of hot sauce, jalepenos, and guac
Review: Amazing
I love Anna's. It is the most wonderful casual restaurant you will ever encounter. The food is delicious and quick and cheap as can be. Once you go a single time, you will be hooked. I frequent Anna's at least a couple times a week and still cherish it every single time. The one issue for vegetarians such as myself-- beware, the rice has chicken broth.
Review: Fab
Food is great, the price is definately right, and you really can't go wrong. Sometimes the lines are long, but they move very quickly, so don't let it stop you. I really can't recommend this place enough!
Review: Good, inexpensive burrito spot.
Anna's is a simple, casual restaurant offering burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and other snacks. The super burritos are a very good deal for the money, although the add-ons (such as guacamole) seem somewhat expensive compared to the rest of the prices. Anna's is quite popular, and can be very crowded, but the staff has burrito preparation down to a science, and the line usually moves quickly. The atmosphere is plain, but clean, with counter service. All in all, Anna's is one of the best options for burritos in the Boston area.
Review: Go Annas!
Annas Taqueria is great. The food is great, the service is quick, and the price is so cheap! I love Annas Taqueria!
Review: I live about 20 minutes away from Anna's and I still make it out there frequently. The food is incredible! The burritos are unbelievable and the quesadillas make you beg for mercy. Amen, Anna's!
Review: Cheap Good Grub
Amazing thats all I have to say quesadillas are the best thing that you can get.
Dok Bua
411 Harvard St. - 617.277.7087 $5.01 - $15
A Thai restaurant that grew out of an Asian market (there are still a few specialty items on sale), Dok Bua is a casual spot for an inexpensive meal. There's a large menu as well as a whiteboard with daily specials.
Cuisine: Thai
Recommended Dishes: Anything on the specials board. Pad-thai, Beef and broccoli on rice etc. etc. Cryspy Pork Gapraw
Review: Eat and Go Shopping

Review: Food, With Lowest Opportunity Cost and Highest Benefits!
I tried the beef and broccoli with rice and ate the whole large dish all by myself, the Pad-thai's etc. were great. But I like the Thai Ice tea the best.
Review: The Best Thai Food in Town
If you want to try real authentic Thai food.. The search is over.. The taste is awesome, they try to do everything better day by day..a lot better than the one opposite (rod-o-cha).. try it and you'll really love Thai food
Anam Cara
1648 Beacon St. - 617.277.2880 $15.01 - $30
Irish pub with bar standards and some American bistro fare. Also serves weekend brunch. Open late.
Cuisine: Irish
Recommended Dishes: Cheese Burger!
Review: Anam Cara is the Place To Go!
Anam Cara has a great atmosphere, great food, great staff, and great everything! They have so much to offer. They have quiz nights on Sundays with Stump! This is truly an Irish Pub - both owners are straight from the mother land and they are some of the friendliest people around. A great place to be.
Review: Great pub
Great pub, great food, perfect for any night out.
Michael's Deli
256 Harvard St. - 617.738.3354 $5.01 - $15
A fourteen-seat traditional New York-style deli, offering corned beef, pastrami, knishes, and other traditional items. The decor is simple, as one might expect, with counter service. It is located directly across from the Longwood Ave. intersection with Harvard St., just south of Beacon St.
Cuisine: Deli / Sandwiches
Recommended Dishes: Michael's Choice-Combo Prime Rib/Briscuit pastrami
Review: Best Deli In Brookline
Huge portions, pretty cheap, excellent food. Good ole NY style Deli, no frills, just great food.
Review: Good New York Style Deli
Bottega Fiorentina
41 Harvard St. - 617.738.5333 $5.01 - $15
Small Tuscan deli and restaurant, offering sandwiches, pasta, and entrees.
Cuisine: Italian
Recommended Dishes: Panino with tomato, basil, mozzarella, and Proscuitto di Parma.
Review: A winning sequel.
This second outpost of Bottega Fiorentina doesn't have quite the same quirky charm as the original -- I miss the Italian grocery items and the long picnic table -- but the food is just as good, and it's still a bargain. The less busy location on the edge of Brookline Village also means that it's usually not as crowded as the original, so the chances of finding a seat are often better. This location looks a bit more like a standard deli, but don't be fooled. The sandwiches are made with the same great bread and high quality fillings as at the original, and the pastas are still made to order. Both locations are excellent choices for inexpensive, casual meals.
Bottega Fiorentina
313B Harvard St. - 617.232.2661 $5.01 - $15
This combination of a Tuscan specialty market, deli, and casual eatery serves antipasto, sandwiches, pasta, entrees, and espresso. Much of the business is takeout, but there are seats at a communal indoor picnic table and several small counters. Note that there is a large public metered parking lot behind the restaurant, off of Babcock St.
Cuisine: Italian
Recommended Dishes: Panino with tomato, basil, fresh mozzarella, and Proscuitto di Parma
Review: Is it a specialty store, a deli, or a restaurant?
Fugakyu Japanese Cuisine
1280 Beacon Street - 617.734.1268 $30.01 - $50
Solid Japanese option near Coolidge Corner.
Cuisine: Sushi
Recommended Dishes: Sushi
Review: One of the Best
Sealey's Lunch
147 Cypress St. - 617.566.8529
This traditional lunch counter mainly caters to neighborhood residents and workers.
Cuisine: Diner
Recommended Dishes: any kind of eggs
Review: Great Food
Sealeys is a great place to eat. It is close to a high school, so at almost anytime of the day you can find kids in there having great food, even if it means getting up early to have a decent breakfast at a friendly family owned restaurant.
Baja Betty's Burritos
3 Harvard Sq. - 617.277.8900 $5.01 - $15
Inexpensive Cal-Mex burritos, tacos, and tamales in Brookline Village. Many customers opt for takeout, but there are several small tables, as well as an indoor picnic table. The serve-yourself "salsa bar" is one of the more unusual features, offering a choice of hot sauces, pickled jalapenos, and chopped onions with cilantro. During the summer months, they offer Christina's ice cream. Its "Harvard Square" address is the intersection of Harvard St. and Washington St. in Brookline Village.
Cuisine: Tex-Mex
Recommended Dishes: Veggie Burito Baja Betty burrito with Chile Colorado
Review: Good Mexican in Brookline Village
I eat there at least once a week and recommend it highly. The food is good, as are the prices, and the people who own it and work there are first rate. It's primarily a take out place, but for quick and fresh Mexican, I haven't found any place in Boston that competes.
Review: Good burritos in Brookline.
Although Boston has few good spots for Mexican food, Brookline is lucky to have a few good burrito spots. Baja Betty's is one of the best bets for burritos in the Greater Boston area. Although the burritos are a bit more expensive than some of the competition, they're also larger -- you get plenty of bang for the buck -- and they are made with good, fresh ingredients. Baja Betty's emulates "California-style" burritos, with an emphasis on reducing fat (for example, burritos can be ordered with yogurt instead of sour cream). The vegetable tamales are also good -- when they're available. The salsa bar, with choices of mild, medium, hot, onions with cilantro, and spicy pickled peppers, is a big plus. The ambiance shows a bit more imagination than many counter-service places, with a "wall of hot sauces" and the staff is also very friendly -- they make an effort to get to know regular and even semi-regular customers.
Firenze
9 Babcock St. - 617.738.7707 $15.01 - $30
This small Tuscan trattoria serves authentic homestyle food. Run by the same people as the popular Bottega Fiorentina casual eateries, this is a full-service restaurant, complete with a moderately-priced list of mainly Tuscan wines. The basement location can make it difficult to find. Note that there is a large public metered parking lot off of Babcock St., a short distance from the restaurant.
Cuisine: Italian
Recommended Dishes: gnocchi pizzas, pastas
Review: Yummers
Excellent pasta specials, very fresh Tuscan style dishes. We enjoyed the atmoshphere and service immensely.
Review: Authentic Tuscan
Busy Bee Restaurant
1046 Beacon St - 617.566.8733 $5.01 - $15
Traditional lunch counter, with breakfast all day, sandwiches, hot entrees, and daily specials. Casual, with a mix of clientele, from local politicians, to construction workers, to professors.
Cuisine: Diner
Recommended Dishes: Fried clams (Fri. only), hot turkey sandwich, hot roast beef sandwich
Review: Back to the 50's
Cafe Han River
1009 Beacon St. - 617.739.6221 $5.01 - $15
Small, inexpensive, mom-and-pop Korean cafe, with sandwich-shop ambiance. The menu has a limited number of selections, and the restaurant offers counter service. There are only a few small tables, but take-out is also available.
Cuisine: Korean
Recommended Dishes: Kimchee Jigae, Spicy Pork Bulgogi
Review: Tiny Restaurant, Good Food
Chef Chang's House
1004-1006 Beacon St. - 617.277.4226 $5.01 - $15
Serving Mandaran, Szechuan, and Shanghai cuisine, this restaurant is best known for its Peking duck.
Cuisine: Chinese
Recommended Dishes: Peking Duck
Review: Great Duck
Overall, this is a pretty standard Szechuan Chinese restaurant. The decor is a little dark for my taste, but the food is reasonably priced and plentiful. The quality is fine overall, but only the Beijing Duck is really above average for the area. Lunch specials are a good value.
Figs
1208 Boylston St. [Rt. 9] - 617.738.9992 $15.01 - $30
One of several outlets for chef Todd English's more casual cuisine, Figs features thin-crust "designer" pizzas made in a brick oven, as well as pastas and other Mediterranean-style entrees. The atmosphere is modern and sleek, with tables set fairly close together. Other branches of this restaurant can be found in Charlestown (the original location), on Beacon Hill in Boston, in Wellesley, and at LaGuardia Airport in New York.
Cuisine: Mediterranean
Recommended Dishes: Spicy Shrimp Pizza
Review: Another Good Figs.
India House
239 Harvard St - 617.739.9300 $5.01 - $15
CLOSED - OUT OF BUSINESS
Cuisine: Indian / Pakistani
Recommended Dishes: Tandoori chicken varieties
Review: Good, Authentic
A fine Indian restaurant. The selection of dishes on the menu is reasonable (though not remarkably adventurous). Execution is good. On a recent trip, the Tandoori chicken was excellent, as was the lentil dal. The breadth of the vegetarian thali was a bit disappointing. Nan and Poori breads were good.
