57 Restaurant and Bar 200 Stuart St - 617.423.5700 Recommended Dishes:Throw a dart at the menu and you've made the right choice. Review:For 51 years the best, now even better. After visiting the newly renovated 57 Restaurant, scheduled to open the week of November 12, 2001, I may just come up with an excuse or two a month to come back to my hometown of Boston to dine!
Antico Forno 93 Salem St. - 617.723.6733 $15.01 - $30 A romantic North End classic. Cuisine: Italian Review:The best food ever They have the best food ever. I loved it. I am coming back because I loved the food...
Boston Beer Works 61 Brookline Ave. - 617.536.2337 $15.01 - $30 Popular brewpub across the street from Fenway Park. The menu contains a wide-ranging mix of modern bar foods. The decor is "industrial brewpub," with exposed sheet metal and sacks of hops. The location ensures that it gets very crowded when the Red Sox are in town. Recommended Dishes:Try em' all Review:Always Great Have been here during the non-baseball season several times. Never during the baseball season, it would just be too busy for my taste. I have found it to be top of the line in every way possible. Food is great. Customer Service is also great. Clean atmosphere. Bathrooms....need some updating to say the least.
Maison Robert 45 School St. - 617.227.3370 Bar,Outdoor dining,Romantic Cuisine: French Recommended Dishes:salmon, omelettes, salads, calves liver - everything! Review:fantastic place to eat I just love this place. I come here over and over again - - each time I bring someone new (they usually love it as well). There is a main dining room on the second level of the Old City Hall building in Boston. On the first level are Ben's Cafe and an outdoor terrace. Each one is fantastic. The upstairs dining room is a litle expensive, however. We recently had a function in one of the smaller banquet rooms - the vault (the old City Hall's treasurer's vault). The food was wonderful and the service left nothing to be disired. We always have a wonderful time when we come to Maison Robert!
Mike's City Diner 1714 Washington St - 617.267.9393 Cuisine: Diner Recommended Dishes:BREAKFAST ALL THE WAY Review:Best Breakfast Anywhere, Hands Down Without a doubt this place makes the best breakfast anywhere. Get there early or you'll be waiting in line. Small place so not too many seats. Very homey and great staff.
Thai House Restaurant 1033 Commonwealth Ave - 617.787.4242 Cuisine: Thai Recommended Dishes:spring rolls, vegetable pad thai, garlic beef (so what if you peel paint off the wall for the rest of the day?), ginger ice cream Review:Out Of This World!!! There's really no way to lose when you come to this restaurant - all the dishes (and I've tried them all) are MORE than worth the price you pay, and will leave you well satisfied. While it's tempting to overindulge by ordering more than one appetizer (or even entree), I strongly recommend you leave room for their ginger ice cream - a treat that's worth the trip unto itself.
Bay Tower Room 60 State St. - 617.723.1666 $30.01 - $50 Bar and live entertainment (such as a small orchestra, trio or pianist) combine with the city's most stunning view, and excellent American food in a elegant and romantic setting. Cuisine: American Recommended Dishes: salmon timbale, foie gras Review:Stunning view, fabulous food, lucious wines, and yes they even have high chairs for the sophisticated well behaved baby who tolerates grown-up fare and surroundings. Virtual perfection at one of Boston's long standing "very best" restaurants. Review:worth a visit

Cuisine: Continental / European Review:New owner Restaurant is now owned by Biba owner/chef Lydia Shire. Initial newspaper reviews have been mixed but apparantly the public loves the new operation. Don't believe ties are still required. Have not tried the food yet so rating is based on our experience at Biba. Review:Glorious Food from revival of Cold Roast Boston

Florentine Cafe 333 Hanover St - 617.227.1777 Italian fine dining. Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Sweet potato ravioli with apple butter-based sauce Review:Italian Trendy Gourmet Food Elegant restaurant with all the familiar Italian dishes, but with an experimental twist. Presentation of the food is outstanding - it seems a shame to disturb the artful arrangements. It's worth it as the food is incredible! Portions are large - I never got to the dessert menu.
Geoffrey's Cafe-Bar 578 Tremont St. - 617.266.1122 $15.01 - $30 An appealing combination of trendy wine bar and old-fashioned home-cookin'. Cuisine: Breakfast / Brunch Recommended Dishes:goat-cheese salad and the boeuf-bourguignon Review:Excellent Bistro The bistro-style food here is excellent, the portions are large and selection of wines very broad. Set in a row of normal south-end homes, the interior decor is lovely: red walls with European movie posters, candlelight. There are about 10 tables, seating around 40 people. Be prepared for a 30min wait during the week, longer on weekends. No reservations taken, entrees are between $8 and $15 - the best value for money I have seen in Boston so far!
J P Licks Homemade Ice Cream 674 Centre St - 617.524.6740 Review:Best Ice Cream They are open for breakfast... But I always go there after dinner when we're in JP.... Great variety, wonderful toppings, great place to people watch.
Olive's 10 City Sq - 617.242.1999 $30.01 - $50 Innovative cuisine in bustling restaurant off City Square. Cuisine: Mediterranean Review:Fine Dining in Unlikely Spot
Sel de La Terre 225 State St. - 617.720.1300 $30.01 - $50 Bistro-style French food on the waterfront. Cuisine: French Recommended Dishes:duck Review:Unique pricing Each of the courses on the menu have one price: e.g. all appetizers are $10, all entrees are $22, etc. Located near the harbor, the food is excellent including the bread basket. They have a small bakery store in the front. We went as a party of four and no one was disappointed with their dishes. Service was also excellent.
Ali's Roti Restaurant 1188 Blue Hill Ave - 617.298.9850 Cuisine: Caribbean Recommended Dishes: The shrimp roti with a touch of channa and some cuchela, maybe a drop of cucumber. Review:Watery I am a Trinidadian living in Boston for almost 20 years. I am a "professional" roti maker that has been making roti for years and have never tasted a roti so terrible (not to be mean, but the truth is the truth) in my life. Trini to Trini I only want success for the company (all 3 of them)but the roti skin itself is not enjoyable, the curry is ok but the roti skin is the main problem. The roti skin needs to have more channa and seasonings. Once I see a roti has not had enough channa its not a real roti it is just a peice of oily bread with no love. Do us all a favor in improving this for our fellow complaining Bostonians and also myself. Review:Great food - spicy, unassuming, delightful I don't know what the previous reviewer is talking about. Each time I've visited Ali's Roti, the rotis have been perfect, especially with either the goat curry or with the shrimp / chicken combination. The best part is that you can spice it up as much as you like and you just have to tell them and they'll adjust this for you. Absolutely delicious food! Review:delicious This food is some of the most incredibly tasty food i've ever had. I being from Trinidad myself am of course an expert on roti, and these people do it with style and class. The roti is cooked to that exact degree so that it has that crispy taste to it. The food portions are just enough that you are full, but not too much that you feel sick after. The restaurant owner mixes his own culture with some original Indian spices and curry imported straight from the islands.
Amrheins 80 W. Broadway - 617.268.6189 $5.01 - $15 South Boston institution, popular with the neighborhood but accepting of visitors. Since 1890. Cuisine: Irish Recommended Dishes:Corned beef and cabbage when available Review:Good neighborhood spot Nothing pretentious here; just good neighborhood place to go for dinner. Menu has a nice breadth of dishes so there is something for everyone. Service is efficient; can be a little fast so you may have to slow it down. There are two dining rooms and a bar area. Nice to see that they have gotten a little more upscale with some of the daily specials.
Apollo Grill and Sushi Restaurant 84-86 Harrison Ave. - 617.423.3888 Cuisine: Korean Recommended Dishes:Shumai - Shrimp dumplings, Chicken teriyaki, Shrimp Fried Rice Review:Great Food The food was absolutely amazing, the "shrimp fried rice" is the absolute best I've had in boston. Also the "shumai" is a great appetizer, in general the food was good. It seems like this restaurant is overlooked alot, alot more people should try it out.
Biga Breads Cafe 197 8th St - 617.242.1006 Bakery cafe in newly-revived Charlestown Navy Yard. Now offering dinner take-out prepared entrees. Cuisine: Bakery Review:Good Sandwiches A bit pricy for the neighborhood, but tasty sandwich in a cafe-like setting on Flagship Wharf right on the harbor. The bread is fresh-baked and tasty. There's also soup, pizzettas, and pastries. No table service - just order from the chilly staff at the counter.
Boston Street Restaurant 224 Boston St - 617.265.1217 Cuisine: American Review:Popular Originally a neighborhood place the menu has gone upscale and the restarurant is drawing from a larger geographical area. Some of the original items have been retained such as meatloaf and fish cakes, but generally the entrees have become more sophisticated and expensive. Some nights there is a wait to get in. The food is very good and diverse; there are specials each evening.
Chef Choy's House 354 Chestnut Hill Ave. - 617.566.2275 In the Brookline/Brighton area, first there was Chef Chang, then Chef Chow, and finally Chef Choy. Cuisine: Chinese Recommended Dishes:Mandarin Chicken Review:Great Prices+Great Food=Great Value It is a great neighborhood restaraunt for the Cleveland Circle area. They have both lunch and dinner specials that are very affordable. The daily specials always include soup, appetizers, and rice and are rather large.
