Camden, town, Knox County, southern Maine, on Penobscot Bay; settled 1769, incorporated 1791. It is a tourist resort located in a scenic area. Manufactures include textiles and leather. A large state park is nearby. The town is named for Charles Pratt, 1st Earl Camden, a British jurist sympathetic to the American colonies.
