Slidell, city, Saint Tammany Parish, southeastern Louisiana, on Bayou Bonfouca, near Lake Pontchartrain and the Pearl River Wildlife Area. Settled around 1880, the community is named for the politician and diplomat John Slidell. Population 26,718 (1980); 24,124 (1990); 25,695 (2000).
