Slidell, city, Saint Tammany Parish, southeastern Louisiana, on Bayou Bonfouca, near Lake Pontchartrain and the Pearl River Wildlife Area. Major manufactures include processed food and building materials. Offices of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Michoud Operations are here. Settled around 1880, the community is named for the politician and diplomat John Slidell. Population 26,718 (1980); 24,124 (1990); 25,695 (2000).
