Copeland's Of New Orleans 1665 E Bert Kouns - 318.797.0143 Cuisine: Cajun / Creole Recommended Dishes: fried bowtie pasta with spinach dip Review:Copelands, Shreveport, LA It was my first experience at Copelands and I can honestly tell you that I will not go back. It was Feb. 16, 2003. I ordered the onion mum and it was a little crispier that I would have preferred with a few burned french fries in there for garnish...The salad that was to come with my dinner did not arrive until after we were served our meal and I asked...We were never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything...I was even presented with my check before they offered us any dessert! I was there with my three children, my husband is currently serving his country overseas, and I believe they thought I was a single mother and wouldn't leave them a tip. It definately wasn't worth the money I paid. Review:Hit or Miss I have been to Copeland's in Shreveport and Monroe, and in one word I would have to say it is "inconsistent." I have been there at times when the food was wonderful and service was impeccable. Then, there were the other times when we had to wait for our meal for an hour and when it was served, the food was overly seasoned and poor quality. Once, I ordered shrimp with tasso, and it was so peppery that I had to down a glass of water! I couldn't continue eating it because the waitress never came by to refill my water glass! My husband and I visit the one in Monroe on occasion (we live there) but we don't make it a favorite hangout of ours.
Catfish King 6932 Jewella Ave - 318.635.1202 Cuisine: Seafood Review:I will never come back to this restaurant! The fish was hard. The beans were hard, and even the french fries looked like they had been sitting under the heat all day. The only think I can honestly say tasted good was the tomato stuff.
Don's Seafood & Steak House 3100 Highland Ave - 318.865.4291 Cuisine: Steaks Recommended Dishes:not the steak! Review:Not worth the hype I have visited Don's on two occasions, and don't see what everyone else raves about. Let me qualify this by saying I am not a seafood eater, so my review is of their steaks and non-seafood dishes only. The atmosphere is outdated, the service needs improving, and the food was bland. I ordered filet mignon my last visit there, and I had to salt and pepper it to give it any taste! The meat was tender and cooked to my specifications, but why don't they season their steaks?
