Kenner, city, Jefferson Parish, southeastern Louisiana, on the Mississippi River, a suburb of New Orleans; incorporated 1952. A transportation center, Kenner is the location of New Orleans International Airport. Light manufacturing, retail trade, and tourism are also important to the economy. Established in 1855, the community is named for Minor Kenner, who, with his brother William Butler Kenner, owned the land that the city now occupies.
