A&A Pagliais Pizza 302 E Bloomington Street - 319.351.5073 $5.01 - $15 Cuisine: Pizza Recommended Dishes:NONE Sausage pizza Review:A Real Italian Pizza Place In my opinion, they make the best pizza in Iowa City! Each to their own taste. The restaurant has been in business since 1962 and is still owned by the same person. All ingredients are fresh and the place is cleaned daily including all his equipment. The proof is in the repeat business he still gets with previous generations. Review:great pizza I am from out of town and this pizza was the best. I drive 2 hours once a month just to get Pagliais Pizza Review:It's the best! What else is there to say? This is the best pizza I have ever had and I've eaten a lot of pizza in my life. They don't deliver but there's no need. I would walk on my knees through the snow to get a carry-out order and I live 25 miles away. They also offer their pizzas frozen which, while certainly not as good as the fresh-made, are darn good. Review:Really nice Pizza Restaurant The atmosphere is upscale for a pizza place and the staff is really nice. The pizza is among the best, if not the best I have had anywhere. The only shortcoming, if you consider it one, is that pizza is the only dish they serve. But if pizza it what you want, Pagliai's is definitely the place to get great pizza in Iowa City. I agree with one of the other reviewers, I'd drive two hours to get their pizza.
Diamond Dave's Taco Co Old Capitol Mall - 319.354.6794 Cuisine: Mexican Recommended Dishes:margaritas Review:Go elsewhere. It was Homecoming weekend, with tens of thousands of extra people in town. The manager had apparently not planned ahead, there were only 2 waiters, half the restaurant was closed off due to lack of wait staff, they literally ran out of food, and we waited over 2 hours to get our meals. The food was cold and the manager was rude when we complained. She did not offer to give us our cold food for free, and acted as if waiting 2 hours was no big deal. They also ran out of chips and salsa while we waited. The food tasted like it could have come from a frozen dinner. Extremely disappointing. Our waiter was great and very apologetic but the manager was rude and obnoxious.
