Urbana, city, seat of Champaign County, east central Illinois, adjoining the city of Champaign; incorporated 1851. Athletic equipment, motor-vehicle parts, and paper products are manufactured in the city. A large campus of the University of Illinois is located both in Urbana and Champaign. The community, which was settled in 1822 and later laid out in 1833, is named for Urbana, Ohio.
