Park Ridge, city, Cook County, northeastern Illinois, on the Des Plaines River, a residential community near Chicago; founded 1850s, incorporated as a city 1910. It was known as Brickton from 1858 to 1873, when its present name was selected. Population 38,704 (1980); 36,175 (1990); 37,775 (2000).
