Oak Lawn, village, Cook County, northeastern Illinois, on Stony Creek; incorporated 1909. It is a residential suburb of Chicago with some industry, including the manufacture of metal and paper products and machine tools. The Palos Hills Forest Preserve and Lake Calumet are nearby. Oak Lawn grew rapidly in the 1960s. Population 60,590 (1980); 56,182 (1990); 55,245 (2000).
